(Backup) Glacier Day One - reposted

Hate it when an unreliable wifi connection causes you to lose a whole post!  Sooooo, trying to recap:

Photos from our Alberton campground - next to the Clark Fork River with huge pine forested mountains on the other side of the river and railroad track.  We met some Californians who were pulling a 30' brand new Airstream  -  maybe when we win the lottery we will try one out.  We rather prefer our little Shasta -just  enough space!

The drive to Glacier was gorgeous as expected.  Mountains and rivers and vistas were covering the entire route.  We did not expect the magnificence of the Flathead Lake that seemed to go on forever.  It reminded us of Lake Tahoe and little Lake Pontoosac. They say it is the biggest freshwater lake within the  continental US.

When we reached the community of Lakeside we stopped for lunch.  Went to Tamarack, a Lakeside "experience".  It is a craft beer brewery and had very creative names for their brews.  Next time I will take amenu  because I cannot remember any of them.

We arrived at ourcampground and I knew it would be a nice one when I saw the flowers at the office.

Obviously the deer are well fed nearby and don't need to eat the flowers.  We settled Hilda in and went over to the park to reserve spots for rafting on the river and a Red Bus Tour on the Road to the Sun.  Tomorrow morning we'll drive to East Glacier to see the Other Side.
